Claro’s own TJ Steele took home the 8th Annual Eater’s Award for Best Chef of the Year.  Claro’s recently opened in Brooklyn as a Mexican Restaurant with a patio specializing in Oaxacan plates and mezcals.  TJ dominated the reader’s choice poll by taking majority vote against some stiff competition in the NY area.  His competitors included chefs from Nur, Hanoi House, Ugly Baby, and Chumley’s.  There are 24 cities that participate in different categories.  Winners are determined by combining the editor’s choice winner with the reader’s choice winner, the winner from each city is granted a prize for their category.
